PRIVACY NOTICE
Your information and this website
Who is responsible?
Andrew Lindley operates SEAOne and is responsible for the personal information collected through this website. SEAOne is the parent brand for DCOne, the upcoming ECOne and the proposed KITOne.
For privacy enquiries or to exercise your rights, use our Contact page and select “Privacy or permissions”.
Browsing and downloads
You can read public pages and download library PDFs without creating an account. Netlify hosts this website and may process technical information such as IP addresses, browser details, requested pages and request times to deliver the site, maintain security and diagnose problems.
We use legitimate interests for operating and protecting the website. The statistics displayed on SEAOne are historical DCOne snapshots, not a live tracker of your visit. We have not added advertising trackers or visitor analytics scripts to the website’s own code.
Contact enquiries
The contact form collects your name, email address, enquiry topic and message. Netlify Forms processes and stores submissions and sends notifications to our team inbox, hosted by Gmail. We use this information to respond, manage enquiries and keep relevant correspondence, relying on our legitimate interests in communicating with visitors and supporting the community.
Only people who need to handle your enquiry should access it. Please do not send passwords, medical records, identity documents or certificates through the contact form.
Accounts and member features
Supabase provides email sign-in, account records, the member database and PDF storage. Account information includes your email address, account identifier and authentication records. If you save member preferences, we also store your display name, weekly-email preference and the date it was changed. We process information necessary to provide the account service you request, and use legitimate interests to maintain security and prevent misuse.
If you use discussions, your display name, posts and replies are visible to other signed-in members. Your email address is not displayed on the discussion board. Avoid posting personal or confidential information about yourself or others. Display names are not identity-verified.
PDF upload access is restricted to the authorised owner account. Published library files and their titles, descriptions and topics are public. Do not upload private documents or material you lack permission to publish.
Optional weekly emails
Weekly email delivery has not been activated. Saving a preference does not currently send newsletters. If delivery is introduced, it will use a separate opt-in and include a way to unsubscribe. Sign-in emails are part of account access and are separate from marketing or community newsletters.
Service providers and transfers
Our providers include Netlify for hosting and contact forms, Supabase for accounts, databases and file storage, and Google Gmail for enquiry notifications and correspondence. These services may use infrastructure or subprocessors outside the UK. Applicable transfer safeguards are described in their data processing terms; a selected database region does not mean every service operation stays in that region.
Provider information: Netlify · Supabase · Google. Some member pages load the Supabase client from jsDelivr, which receives technical request information when that file is loaded. External websites linked from SEAOne have their own privacy practices.
How long we keep information
We keep enquiries and correspondence for as long as needed to deal with the matter and any related follow-up, dispute or legal obligation. Account information is retained while the account is maintained. Posts remain available while they form part of the community discussion, unless removed. We review information when it is no longer needed and respond to deletion requests subject to applicable legal requirements. Provider logs and backups follow the relevant service’s retention arrangements and may not disappear immediately when active records are deleted.
Your rights and account deletion
Depending on the circumstances, you can request access, correction, deletion, restriction or portability of your personal information. You can object to processing based on legitimate interests and withdraw consent where processing relies on it. Contact us through the privacy option on our Contact page to request account deletion or raise a concern. We may need to verify that a request comes from the account holder.
Deleting an account may also remove associated preferences, posts and replies. Copies quoted by others, publicly downloaded files and provider backups may have different retention arrangements. You can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office.
LEGAL INFORMATION
Using our learning resources
Educational purpose
SEAOne and DCOne provide general study material and practical cadet guidance. They supplement formal training; they do not replace instruction from your college, sponsoring company, qualified officers or the relevant maritime authority.
Do not use website material as the sole basis for navigation, watchkeeping, emergency response or other safety-critical decisions. Follow current regulations, approved procedures and your vessel’s instructions.
Accuracy and updates
Training requirements, regulations and company procedures can change. Check information against current authoritative sources and the requirements of your own training route. If you spot an error, please let us know through the Contact link.
External websites and partners
Links to partners and other resources take you to separate websites. Those providers manage their own services, prices, availability, terms and privacy practices. Read their information before sharing data, purchasing or enrolling. A listing on SEAOne does not guarantee an examination result, qualification or employment outcome.
Copyright and permissions
Content and assets may belong to SEAOne, DCOne or third-party rights holders. Partner names and logos remain the property of their respective owners. Linking to a resource does not transfer copyright or grant permission to reproduce it.
Respect any licence or permission attached to individual resources. Contact us before republishing material or using branding, and obtain permission from the relevant rights holder where required.
Generated illustrations
Page header backgrounds use real maritime photographs. Some educational illustrations and KITOne product mockups were created with AI assistance. These are illustrative concepts, not technical instructions or photographs of products available to buy.
Member conduct
Use the member area respectfully. Do not post harassment, spam, unlawful content or confidential information. We may remove content or restrict accounts to protect the community. Report concerns using the Contact page.
Responsibility
The resources are provided for general educational use. This page does not exclude or limit any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, or affect any rights you have under applicable law.
